A body found last Sunday on a Pacific City-area beach was positively identified by the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office as Kyle Wallace, 20, from Depoe Bay. Wallace had been sought by area law enforcement agencies after he fled an Oregon State Police (OSP) traffic stop September 24. The Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office, the lead investigating agency, said there is no evidence Wallace’s death was the result of a crime. Tillamook County Deputy Dean Burdick said a body was spotted by people walking on the beach about 3/4 of a mile south of the dory boat launch area in Pacific City October 21. The body appeared to have washed on shore and was unidentified. The body was positively identified by the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office using fingerprints.
Wallace was a wanted fugitive with multiple warrants. He was sought by OSP and area law enforcement agencies after he fled in a vehicle stopped by OSP September 24 in the area of Highway 101 and Otter Crest Loop Road. The vehicle was later found abandoned about a mile from the traffic stop location and an area search failed to find Wallace at that time.
